So you see, this world doesn't matter to me
I'll give up all I had just to breathe The same air as you till the day that I die I can't take my eyes off of you And I'm longing, for words to describe how I'm feeling I'm feeling inspired My world just flip turned upside down It turns around, say what's that sound It's my heart beat, it's getting much louder My heart beat, is stronger than ever I'm feeling so alive, I'm feeling so alive The couple pic of Royale and Kaedence as part of my entry for =cascadance's contest! Here is her ref: [link] Now onto the story!! A stallion raced across the sand with great force. It was early, but the heat still managed to find his galloping form. His legs pounded on the dunes, leaving small hoof-sized potholes in a winding trail behind him. He held his tail high as his ears and eyes were alert, taking in the desert morning. He let his troubles fall away in the whisps of dust that flew from his hooves. Just keep running, just keep running.... A year or two later... Ah, water! After searching for so long, the mare's pace quickened as soon as she could tell this was not just another mirage. Even though her head was carried low with fatigue, her small hooves grazed the sand lightly. As she began drinking she felt her long, strawberry-brown mane fall onto her face. The air was dry and hot today with no hope of a breeze. The mare snorted into the dust at the edge of the pool, ticked by the clouds of dust he dancing hooves had created. She took long drinks of the cool water, relishing in her find. But she wasn't the only one. A gorgeous stallion had appeared on the opposite side of the pool, although he was still quite a ways off. But Kaedence could hear the soft thuds of his hooves on the sand and she looked up, her long forelock jolting with the quickness of her gesture. She hadn't seen another horse besides her father for a few years. What a surprise to run into another here! But what luck too, for as the stallion grew closer Kaedence could see his unique markings and handsome face. He carried his tail high and had a regal air about him. She only hoped that once he caught sight of her, he would be as friendly as he appeared. As he reached the pool, he stopped, looking at the mare before him. He bent his head to drink, his eyes still on her, He obviously hadn't seen many other horses either. There weren't many horses who dared make this wasteland their home. But he didn't seem like he was from the Outlands. Kaedence's thoughts wandered to the stories she had heard of Terracians and their home. Maybe that's where he was from. But she wouldn't know unless she asked. She slowly trotted around the pool toward him, suddenly self-concious. Kaedence had never seen a better looking stallion, even in her home herd. And the way he looked at her gave her the feeling he wasn't just wondering who she was either. She was determined to at least learn his name. "Hello," she called as she stopped by his side. He stopped drinking and raised his head. "Hello," he replied, a smile creeping up on his features. Kaedence couldn't help but grin herself. "My name is Kaedence, may I ask yours?" "I'm Royale, it's very nice to meet you Kaedence," he said with a nod. "And what brings you to the Outlands?" he asked. She replied and then asked him for his story. She was happy to learn that her assumptions were correct. Not only was Royale from the Terrace, he was the prince! As they talked, Kaedence enjoyed this stranger more and more. She didn't notice it at the time, but her heart was slowly becoming attatched to the handsome stallion. As the afternoon light faded into dusk, Kae remembered she had to get back to her father, who would be worried as to where she was. After saying good-bye, Royale turned to canter away and Kaedence did the same. But she stopped abruptly, turning her head to look back. Royale had also stopped, another smile on his face. She felt tugs on the strings of her heart as it broke free and flew. She couldn't wait until she came to the oasis tommorow. For now there was something better then water to look forward too. Ref: none Time: roughly 2 hours Tools: lead pencil, sketch paper, micron pens, prismacolor colored pencils I also listened to "The March" by Alex Wurman while writing/drawing. I thinnk it fits them quite nicely. Kaedence and artwork (c) Royale (c) lyrics (c) Secondhand Serenade |
